1349: Seven hundred Jews are burned alive in the Kingdom of Switzerland because they are believed to be responsible for the inguinal plague that afflicts the city.

1438: The homonymous synod of the Churches of Rome and Constantinople begins in Ferrara, Italy, with the aim of removing the Schism of 1054. The synod, which will later be transferred to Florence, is also attended by the Byzantine emperor John VIII. Although the union of the two Churches is decided, the anti-union portion of Constantinople prevails and ultimately overturns the original decision.

1768: The first modern circus, by Philip Astley, opens in London.

1788: Connecticut becomes the 5th US State.

1792: Russia and the Ottoman Empire sign the Treaty of Iasi, declaring the end of the sixth war between them. Turkey cedes to Russia the Black Sea coast of western Ukraine.

1823:  The Russian government, in a memorandum to the other major powers, proposes as a solution to the Greek question the establishment of three hegemonies modeled on Wallachia and Moldavia. The proposed hegemonies are: a) Thessaly and Eastern Central Greece, b) Western Central Greece and Epirus, c) Peloponnese and Crete.

1888: The Financial Times is founded. Its first issue is published under the name "London Financial Guide" and will be renamed with the name it maintains until today on February 13.

1900: Lazio is founded in Rome as a sports club for runners. They choose the blue and white colors, inspired by the colors of the flag of Greece, the homeland of the Olympic Games and sports in general. The emblem of the group is the eagle, a symbol of the Roman Empire.

1945:  The United States invades the island of Luzon in the Philippines.

2010: An explosive device, placed in a trash can, explodes at 8 pm near the monument of the Unknown Soldier, in front of the Parliament. The terrorist organization "Conspiracy of the Nuclei of Fire" will take responsibility for the attack.
