The funeral of 2.30-year-old student Stavros Georgallis, who lost his life last Friday when he hit his head while playing basketball with his classmates in the school yard, is taking place today at 10 pm from the church of Agios Epifanios in Alethriko.
The funeral of the 10-year-old will be held at public expense, according to yesterday's decision of the Council of Ministers.
According to the decision today, the flags at the Ministry of Education and Culture, at the District Education Offices, at the Services and the school buildings of all levels of education (Primary, Secondary, Technical) will be waving at half-mast.
A wreath will be laid at the funeral by the Minister of Education and Culture Costas Hambiaouris, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Cyprus Nikos Anastasiadis.
The family has announced that it will not accept condolences.
The Deputy Government Spokeswoman Klelia Vassiliou stated after the meeting of the Council of Ministers, that the Ministerial decided to cover the expenses for the funeral of the unfortunate Stavros.
