Police investigations are focusing on the motives of yesterday's brutal murder in Ayia Napa, with the victim being Pantelis Antoniou Ropas, 66, a taxi driver from Sotira. In the morning, the 35-year-old man who was arrested yesterday as a suspect was brought before the court.

The 35-year-old, who is also a former in-law with the 66-year-old, according to the investigators of the case, stated that yesterday he was in Ayia Napa but was in the area for a walk.

In the hands of the investigators of the case are three shotguns and cartridges which were found in his house and are being investigated.

At the same time, a video from a closed circuit monitoring of a building in the area where the perpetrator's movements have been recorded is also checked.

According to medical examiner Nikolas Charalambous, the death of the 66-year-old was due to internal bleeding as a result of a gunshot wound.

The Famagusta district court ordered the eight-day detention of the suspect.
