The reason that motivated the creator

The invention, which has saved hundreds of millions in operating costs of businesses and buildings, the revolving door, was first installed at the Rector Restaurant in Times Square, New York, in 1899.

But what is the reason that led to its creation? The inventor was the American Theophilus van Kenel, and its great advantage, which he sought, among other things, is that it prevents dust, rain, snow and outside noises from entering the building, while keeping the heat inside, saving energy and resources.

ENTRANCE DOOR

Van Kenel established the "storm door" in 1888 - but the real reason is said to be that he hated the notions of "chivalry" and "good manners", part of which was the "obligation" to keep the door open for them to pass. others, especially women. In fact, it is said, to be precise, that he literally hated opening the door for women.

So the solution was simple for him. He invented something to deal with this… "bad" habit: A door system where no one needed to open the door to anyone.
