The test that dissolves youth from old age

What do you see in this picture? An old woman or a young girl staring at infinity?

The well-known optical illusion continues to divide the internet, only a new group of researchers is now telling us that there is no reason for controversy: what we see depends on our age.

Older people see the old figure first (or even exclusively), while the younger ones recognize the girl figure. A study by two psychologists from Flinders University in Australia showed the image "My wife or mother-in-law" to 393 subjects aged 18-68 for half a second and then asked them to reveal the gender and age of the figure they saw.

Their purpose was to understand how "same-age prejudices affect the initial translation of the image on a subconscious level." Professor Mike Nicholls then said: "What we have found is that young people tend to see the young girl in the picture, where older people tend to see the older woman."

And if you do not see one of the two images, the nose of the old woman is the chin of the young woman. From which we see only her profile, not her face…
