British army horses ran amok this morning in central London, injuring five people, crashing into vehicles and startling passers-by, before being brought under control.
Videos and photos on social media show two horses, one white and covered in blood and the other black, galloping down a boulevard, passing a scooter and at one point appearing to crash into a taxi after running a red light at an intersection.
"Army horses escaped during a routine exercise this morning," an army spokesman confirmed.

“All the horses were caught and returned to camp. A number of staff and horses were injured and are receiving appropriate medical and veterinary care," he added.
The ambulance service said it intervened at around 08:25 (local time, 10:25 Greek time) to help a person who had fallen from a horse near Buckingham Palace, a district in which the stables of military regiments are located and where the spectacle of equestrians patrols is common.
Ambulances were dispatched to three different locations and transported four people to hospital.
British media said up to five horses were involved and eyewitnesses said the windows of a taxi and a bus were smashed.
"I looked in the mirror and saw them coming right behind me and at the time I had two customers in the back seat so I was worried about them," Robbie, a taxi driver, told the BBC. "Thankfully they moved to the center of the road and continued, but they were going fast."
