Mercury "beats" 40 amps: Yellow warning from the Meteorological Service

Cyprus is in a state of heat today, Monday, with the Meteorological Service issuing a yellow warning.

The yellow warning will be valid from 12 noon until 5 pm.

The maximum temperature is expected to rise to 40 degrees Celsius inland and to 32 degrees Celsius in the higher mountains.

Seasonal low pressure and hot gas mass affect the area.

Weather forecast:

Today the weather will be mostly clear. The winds will initially blow variable patients, 3 beauforts, to later become mainly southwesterly to northwesterly, weak to moderate, 3 to 4 beauforts and temporarily locally on the south coast to strong, 4 to 5 beauforts. The sea will gradually become a little turbulent. The temperature will rise to 40 degrees inland, around 36 on the south, east and north coasts and around 32 degrees on the west coast as well as in the higher mountains.

Tonight, the weather will be mostly clear. Locally, during the mainly cloudy hours, light fog and low cloud cover may form. The winds will blow mainly northwest as northeast weak, 3 beauforts and the sea will be calm to slightly turbulent. The temperature will drop to 23 degrees inland, south and east coasts, around 20 on the rest of the coast and 17 degrees in the higher mountains.

On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday the weather will be mostly clear, but at noon and early in the afternoon there will be locally increased clouds, mainly in the mountains. The temperature will gradually drop over the three days, to fluctuate close to the average climatic values.
