The Board of Directors of KOEAS, following a recommendation of the Technical Committee, ratified all the Cypriot records set during 2021, in all age categories. Undoubtedly, the performance that stood out this year was its impressive 50.80 Eleni Artymata, in the semifinals of 400m., in Tokyo Olympics. Performance, which ranked it 13thη position, the top ever taken by a Cypriot track and field athlete, in the most important celebration of sports in the world and of course it was a new pan-Cypriot record.
The rest of the Cypriot records in the main categories also had the scent of a woman and were achieved by Meropi Panagiotou at 5.000m. at 16: 09.90, knocking down her performance Andris Abraham (16: 13.25), which lasted 33 years (!), And the Natalia Christofi at 100m. with obstacles, with 13.17. Fantastic h Eleni Artymata and in the 4x400m., in an unforgettable race at the European Team Championship in "Tsirio", when he took the baton 20 meters behind Servida and managed to win the first place with a difference! The four girls who took part in the 4x400m relay. recorded a time of 3: 41.52, setting a new nationwide record. The team consisted of Thekla Alexandrou, Kalliopi Kountouri, Kalypso Stavrou and Eleni Artymata.
From there and under the age of 23, three men stood out, who broke a nationwide record, the George Koniarakis in discus (59,31m.), o Stavros Spyrou at 800m. (1: 47.57) and c Spyros Savva in javelin (73,09m.). At the age of under 20, they raised the top performance in Cyprus, the Styliana Ioannidou in height (draw of 1,87m Leontias Kallenou), h Emilia Kolokotroni initially and Valentina Savva then in hammering with a four-barreled hammer and the Konstantinos Alexiadis in shot put (6k.). The 2021 race in Cyprus may be late to start, due to the restrictive measures due to the pandemic, which kept our athletes in their homes, but in Valencia the twin sisters Fotopoulou were in action and took part in various rallies.
