It was very special…

Smart, educated, beautiful, dynamic, stately, with a bright smile that illuminated those around her. Her voice enchanted you ε It riveted you. With the velvet of her complexion, with this heavenly voice of hers…
With her own tone χ A really wonderful voice full of meekness, but also nerve… Full of harmony.
Unfortunately, the excellent Cypriot soprano, Marilena Solomou, did not have time to live, to offer everything she dreamed and wanted…

Mrs. Annita Themistocleous, Marilena's mother, tells ant1ıwo:
"My daughter was a charismatic, gifted, strong and beautiful creature. She dealt with her illness with more courage from the first day she was diagnosed until the end of her short life.
Marilena was born to me on 27/12/1973 and from a young age she showed her musical talent. He had a Diploma in piano solo (he also played the piano at the Hellenic Conservatory of Athens). He also studied at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama and holds a BA in Music Studies from ANGLIA RUSKIN UNIVERSITY.
He won the first prize at the Panhellenic Song Festival in Athens in 1999 and in November 2000, was selected to participate in the first International Song Contest in Guangzhou, China. He had given many recitals and concerts in large concert halls in Cyprus, Greece, Romania and Mexico. Most of the concerts were in collaboration with the support team AMADE-CHYPRE, ALKIONIDES, CYPRUS RED CROSS and EUROPA DONNA CYPRUS.

In 2008 she was named singer of the year at the Madame Figaro Awards, while a few years ago she represented Cyprus at the Nathwani Price event, organized by Europa Donna in Berlin. She was also the winner of the first Cyprus Music Awards Cyprus College, as the singer with the first best-selling album of Cypriot production. The album is titled "for a life time".

In 2006 she was diagnosed with breast cancer and in August 2009, she passed away leaving behind a husband, a little angel and many dreams for life.
Untouched and without remorse, he gave courage to all of us, without ever giving in to the difficult treatments and surgeries that he underwent daily both in Cyprus and abroad. Always with her husband rock by her side, she continued her life normally close to him and their child. She traveled with them, planning her music presentations and concerts with such zeal and determination that she left doctors and people speechless.
She celebrated the birthdays of her family members with her dear friends and relatives, went out with her friends and took care of her appearance especially when her hair appeared after the chemotherapy treatments.
She lived intensely every day of her life, she did beautiful and simple things, exerting as much power as she could and she was happy in every moment, always saying "every day is a gift".

August and memories are revived…

Again and again in your mind you remembered from those last difficult days. Every year on such days the same pain that does not say to soften. Today, nine years later, the wound has not healed and the gap left by her death is unfilled. It is constantly on our minds in our conversations μας Everyday. For all of us who loved her “She did not die. It does not matter if the months pass. Then the dead die when they are forgotten "says the poet Costas Ouranis very correctly.
My Marilena's great wish while she was alive, was to claim to see her son grow up. To enjoy his childhood and adolescence. But he did not catch up…
When her child "left" she was only four and a half years old. If she could hear me, I would like to tell her that Michael is growing up wonderfully in a blessed family. He has people next to him who love him and he has become a beautiful and smart boy who looks very much like her.

To all the manoles who lost their child in the same way…

I hope they find a motivation to move on with their lives. A strong and powerful motivation. In my case the motivation is my grandson. I gave it to Marilena's son and I continue to give what I would offer to my own daughter. Love. True unconditional love ".

The Cypriot opera singer, Lena Kalli, a good friend of Marilena, reports to ant1iwo:
"My Marilena was an Angel with a magical voice !!!
I met her by chance in some classes with my voice teacher and colleague Titsiana Soyat, a great Italian Soprano who lives and works in Cyprus.
She was a glamorous, young musician, an excellent pianist, who was definitely born for the stage. I was immediately won over by her personality, her musicality, her talent. She became my young talented friend that I have to admit, she often aroused me a lot for usually charitable appearances. A brilliant presence on stage, she always adorned our concerts with her beauty, her talent and her angelic voice. He had a great disposition to do things, always anxious for learning and progress.

Her great achievement, apart from the beautiful concerts, was a very beautiful album with amazing cross over music, which she made in collaboration with the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. Her favorite collaborators were Maestro Giannis Hatziloizou, her teacher Titsiana Soyat and the excellent pianist Lilia Danielian, who in recent years has undertaken to organize a very nice recital in her memory.
What to say about a girl full of fun and love for life, for music, for the piano and above all for the song… Words are too small to describe her. An excellent collaborator, dear friend, who will never leave the soul of all those who met her either on stage or in life! It will always be in our hearts !!! ".
