The International Day of Persons with Disabilities (International Day of Persons with Disabilities) was established in 1992 by a decision of the UN General Assembly and is celebrated every year on December 3.

The choice of this date is linked to the adoption by the international organization on 3 December 1982 of the Action Plan for the Disabled, which led to the signing of the International Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities on 30 March 2007 (Cyprus ratified it in 2011 and Greece in 2012).
This Day provides an opportunity for governments, organizations and societies to focus on the rights and opportunities of people with disabilities.
