Consequences of lack of sleep

Sleep deprivation, a feature of the modern way of life, affects our thinking and reduces our ability to concentrate. Some of its effects on the human body are the acceleration of the aging process, the change in eating habits, the weakening of our immune system, memory disorders, headaches, etc.

New mothers and sleep

The arrival of a child is the most important moment in every woman's life. But overexertion and new responsibilities of motherhood can lead to insomnia and a significant reduction in sleep hours. It is normal for the new mother to have trouble sleeping during the first months, mainly due to breastfeeding. Mom wakes up when the baby wakes up and sleeps again when he falls asleep too. But after the first year it is good to create a program, because quality night sleep is very important for the whole family.

How can insomnia be treated?

Usually no treatment is required and the problem is solved by adopting sleep hygiene rules.

Of course if the situation does not improve it is good to seek the help of a specialist to successfully deal with the problem of insomnia. Insomnia is called chronic when it affects at least three nights a week for at least three months. It is not worth getting there to seek help from a specialist, because the longer it is delayed, the more difficult it is to deal with.
