The Pediatric Clinic of Makareio Hospital is overcrowded, due to the outbreak of RSV virus and influenza A, which affects infants and children under two years of age.

According to the Director of the Pediatric Clinic of Makareio Hospital, Dr. Abraham Elias, the situation with influenza A is under control, while the RSV virus is not new, but it is a virus that occurs every year in children, just this year increased activity was observed. However, Mr. Elias stressed that there is no cause for concern.

According to Mr. Elias, 33 children are currently being treated, 12 of whom are infants.

Symptoms of the disease include severe respiratory distress, cough, and fever.

Mr. Elias stressed that parents should pay special attention to infants and newborns.

Noting that there is no vaccine, he stressed that we must be very careful, adding that cold and low temperatures favor the virus, and therefore parents should ventilate the rooms very often, breastfeed the babies because breastfeeding offers antibodies in the infant that strengthens the body's defenses, to make their vaccines and not to smoke in the room where the children are, because they worsen their condition.
