The "initiative for Famagusta" announced that it will not allow the alteration and destruction of the stone-built houses and the historical character of the buildings located inside the walled city of the occupied Famagusta, according to a publication in the Turkish Cypriot "Vatan".
As the Press and Information Office reports, in a statement the "initiative for Famagusta" states that if the goal is to develop within the city walls of Famagusta in terms of tourism, this can only be done by preserving the historical and traditional character and richness of the buildings that are built there.
The initiative expresses the opinion that the demolition of the stone building is equivalent to killing the hen with the golden eggs.
