The President of the Movement Mr. George Perdikis expressed concern about the size of the quarry extensions to the detriment of the forest land that surrounds it. "I have found that the area around the quarry is dominated by endemic Mediterranean vegetation of invisible and small pines, shrubs and the alien species of acacia.
Inside the quarry, which has expanded dramatically, there is of course nothing but still life. The situation is universal and there has been very little reforestation ", said Mr. Perdikis.
The Movement of Ecologists - Citizens' Cooperation is really concerned because information is circulating about further expansion of the quarry to the west and north. Which will cause immediate problems, damage to the environment. The quarry will now be visible from the Rizoelia - Ag. Napa and from the tourist area.
