The authorities of the Republic were alerted after the detection of illegal immigrants in the province of Famagusta.
In particular, seven young Syrians were spotted wandering in the morning on a main street of the community.
The Police authorities were informed and a data check was carried out.
From the preliminary examinations, the immigrants claimed that they passed through the occupied areas into the free areas during the night and expressed a desire to apply for political asylum from the Republic of Cyprus.
The migrants, three of whom are thirty-two years old, are expected to undergo coronavirus testing and be transferred to a hospitality facility after being questioned by the authorities.
