Nea Famagusta road, TOURISTS, INJURY

They came with a group from Britain to Ayia Napa for the bachelor party organized by a mutual friend. The fun, however, ended in misunderstanding and quarrels, which may turn into tragedy, as one of them is rejoicing in the hospital with serious head injuries.

A 27-year-old British citizen is fighting to stay alive, after being attacked and beaten by a 25-year-old compatriot who was in the same company. It is Malik Ali Imran, of Pakistani origin, who is in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital and according to the treating doctors, his health condition is critical. To facilitate the investigations, the Famagusta TAE "wore handcuffs" on Luke Senior.

According to the Police, the incident took place early last Tuesday night in Ayia Napa. While the victim and the perpetrator were walking on a street near the main square of the tourist resort, they were misunderstood for an insignificant reason. They quarreled and at some point the 25-year-old lost his temper and punched the 27-year-old, who fell and hit his head on the pavement. Imran was initially taken to Famagusta General Hospital, where he was found to have multiple fractures to the head and bleeding in the brain. Due to the criticality of his condition, it was deemed necessary to transport him to the hospital of the capital. Luke Senior, 25, was arrested and remanded in custody.

Yesterday he was brought before the District Court of Famagusta, which ordered his six-day detention, at the request of the Police, until the completion of the investigations. Offenses against him for assault and causing grievous bodily harm are being investigated. The suspect testified voluntarily and pleaded guilty, giving details of the incident. According to a police source, the suspect and the victim had not consumed alcohol before the incident.
