The Forest Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment in its announcement states that today, Tuesday 23/07/2019 at 14:50, a fire broke out in the area of responsibility of the Forest Department near the "Sotira" Forest in the area of Ayia Napa.
The fire was brought under control at 16:20 after it burned six dozen with acacias, reeds and other low vegetation.
Two planes and two fire trucks of the Forest Department with four forest firefighters and an employee, as well as three fire trucks of the fire service with six firefighters worked to extinguish it.
The causes of the fire are being investigated. Firefighters remain in the area to deal with a possible resurgence.
