The 35th Ayia Napa International Festival officially opened its gates on Friday.
The Festival began with a performance - a spectacle featuring famous artists from the Chinese city of Guangzhou, who combined song, dance, martial arts and acrobatics to take the audience on a journey into the culture of the Far East.
The performance entitled "Embrace China Guangzhou and Ayia Napa, Cyprus: China - Cyprus Diplomatic Relations for 48 years and 3rd China - Cyprus International Festival of Tourism and Culture" Belt and Road ", took place in the context of 48 years diplomatic relations between Cyprus and China and the close cooperation developed by the two cities - Ayia Napa and Guangzhou - after the signing of a protocol of the first phase of twinning.
It was preceded by a parade of dance groups along Makarios Avenue, followed by dances in the area near the roundabout, opposite the Medieval Monastery.
The Festival was inaugurated by the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Cyprus Huang Xingyuan.
The 35th International Festival of Ayia Napa continues tonight with the concert with Stefanos Korkolis and Sofia Manousaki and culminates tomorrow Sunday with the concert with Giannis Ploutarchos.
