A letter denouncing the possible commission of criminal offenses by the Municipality of Ayia Napa is sent by the widow of G. Kalopsidiotis and the mother of the also murdered Fanos Kalopsidiotis, Koula Kalopsidiotou.

According to the letter, the crimes committed by the Municipality according to Ms. Kalopsidioti were aimed at forcing her to hand over her business, called "CAFE", back to the Municipality, which acted with abuse of power, according to what Mrs. Kalopsidioti attributes.

The Mayor of Ayia Napa, Giannis Karousos, responds to the letter as follows:

"I have received a report about an alleged complaint made against me to the police authorities. Without having any official information about this complaint, I categorically deny what is mentioned in the publications. The allegations in the article are not new and relate to the exact same false allegations that were made months ago in court proceedings, in which the Municipality of Ayia Napa is trying to expel illegal interventions by restoring legality.

I am really sorry that people who illegally own public premises, resort without hesitation to such unfounded complaints, considering that they will push either the Mayor or the Municipal Council to tolerate illegal situations that have existed for decades and which we are trying to deal with for the first time. I also regret that this practice of police complaints is adopted by specific people every time the Municipality takes a decision to deal with illegalities.

I expected that after the previous failed attempts, this miserable practice of non-existent complaints would not be followed. I make it clear that any complaints or other ridiculous reactions do not deter us in our efforts to restore legitimacy and protect the public interest. "As the legal proceedings are ongoing, I do not think it is appropriate to mention more details."
