The 34th Ayia Napa International Festival will take place on September 27-30, 2018 and presents this year the big concert with Dionysis Savvopoulos together with the Vocal Ensemble "Dimension" - "Dionysis Savvopoulos in the songs of others" on September 29, 2018.
It is a musical performance performed for the first time by this great songwriter Dionysis Savvopoulos, together with the Vocal Ensemble "Dimension" 30 musicians from Cyprus and Greece and orchestrations of two great musicians, the Greek and permanent collaborator of Dionysis Savvopoulos, Giotis Kiourtsoglou and the Cypriot composer Vassos Argyridis.
Songs of other colleagues, older and younger, by Attik or Markos Vamvakaris e.g. to Thanasis Papakonstantinou, Phoebus Delivorias and others, Dionysis Savvopoulos sings and presents in this concert.
His program is interspersed with his stories about the acquaintance, his memories and thoughts about these lovable creators and their songs.
It is the first time that Dionysis Savvopoulos presents a program that is not based on his own songs but - mainly - on the songs of others that he loved and envied. Their beauty helped him to deepen his own art, as he says. All the performers sing and play twenty-four songs - diamonds, like a great musical mural that covers a hundred years of Greek songwriting.
The orchestra consists of about 30 musicians, in 2 main trunks, the Acoustic Group and the Symphony Orchestra Winds Staircase.
Also on Friday, September 28, the Ayia Napa International Festival presents the concert of Pantelis Thalassinos - Georgia Ntagaki - Katerina Paraschou - Costas Chatchichristodoulou - Cultural Dance Club "Dionysos".
The concert is adorned with many dances performed by the excellent dancers of the group "Dionysos". Compositions by Theodorakis, Hadjidaki, Loizou, Thalassinos, Xarchakos and our own Marios Tokas will be heard, which this year marks 10 years since his death. Tokas songs will be performed by Costas Hadjichristodoulou who was one of the main collaborators of our great composer.
