Amid protests and a crowd of journalists, the Famagusta District Court met to impose a sentence on the 19-year-old Brit.
The Court, counting both her stay in Cyprus since last summer and the academic year she lost from her stay in Cyprus detention centers, sentenced her to 4 months suspended imprisonment. The suspension will be for three years, while 140 euros were imposed as court costs.
The process was attended by SIGMA's correspondent in the free province of Famagusta, Marinos Pavlikkas.
The information given to a Cypriot newspaper about the intention of the President of the Republic to award thanks to the 19-year-old British woman who has been convicted of false rape has been widely publicized in Britain, if she is sentenced to prison by the Famagusta District Court.
