The Permanent Criminal Court of Paphos, on 05.01.2022, imposed prison sentences, with a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison, on a defendant who pleaded guilty in the middle of a hearing for domestic violence crimes with his wife as a victim.
The essential events were extremely serious due to the injuries inflicted on the victim through the use of a knife in 3 consecutive cases and in addition to the infliction of mental pain from the abuse for a period of 5 months.
In its decision, the Criminal Court indicated that given the facts that govern the present case, it was a happy circumstance that the fatal event did not occur for the complainant, or that there was no permanent functional damage to it, given that in two of the cases the defendant she was beaten and lost consciousness, or even more serious injuries were not inflicted on her. It was emphasized that with the violence of the accused, the complainant acted very correctly and resorted to a complaint. Such behaviors when paralyzed unfortunately turn out to often lead to subsequent episodes.
