The Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca-Famagusta, which is temporarily meeting in Larnaca, found guilty today after closed doors a hearing of a 33-year-old man accused of raping a 21-year-old woman on June 26 last year in Ayia Napa.
According to what was heard in court and as informed Famagusta.News, a young Briton who had been in Ayia Napa since May of that year and worked as a waitress in a nightclub, around 3 a.m. on June 26, as she was leaving work, met the accused who introduced herself as her person. who was working in Ayia Napa and invited her to get in his car to buy lanterns with laughter gas. The girl, showing confidence in the accused, got into his car and he drove her to the chapel of Agia Thekla, where in an adjacent area, as reported in court, he raped her and after they had previously used laughter gas in combination with cannabis.
The young woman then, after first returning to her apartment, reported the case to the Police and after medical examinations and investigations by the Police, the accused was arrested and admitted to sexual intercourse, which, however, was done according to his will. The Criminal Court rejected the defendant's position as well as the defense's position that the complainant's complaint was made with the aim of obtaining insurance compensation.
The case was set for May 28, 2020 at 9 a.m. for speeches and sentencing.
