The government responds positively to quality cultural events and supports the efforts of the Local Government in this direction, said tonight the Secretary of the Council of Ministers Theodosis Tsiolas.
In his greeting at the concert of the Municipality of Deryneia in honor of Manos Eleftherios, under the title: "Malamatenia Logia" held at the Municipal Amphitheater of Deryneia, Mr. Tsiolas said that the event is held to honor the memory of a remarkable, modern intellectual man, the distinguished poet, lyricist and novelist, Manos Eleftheriou ”.
He added that the “award-winning Manos Eleftheriou represents an entire generation while through his lyrics and texts he records elaborate moments and events that marked the modern history of Greece. His works depict images from his birthplace, Ermoupolis of Syros, the uprooting of the refugee world of Asia Minor, the dark period of the dictatorship but also from the years of the change of government and the reconstruction of the political and social life of the wider Hellenism ".
Manos Eleftheriou, continued “passed away, in his 80s in July 2018. With full clarity, perfect spiritual composition and deep cultivation of soul, he served the art of speech with sacred devotion, respect and a unique aesthetic quality. Novels, fairy tale illustrations, plays, editions and a prominent place in the Greek discography seal his contribution to the Greek letters for which he was awarded by the Academy of Athens ".
He also noted that “his lyrics were set to music by the most important Greek composers and performed with great success by well-known and renowned artists, while the songs that bear his signature evoke nostalgic feelings and memories and hold a special place in the hearts of all of us. The life and especially the work of Manos Eleftherios are completely intertwined with our modern culture ".
The Secretary of the Council of Ministers also stated that “the initiative of tonight's event by the Municipality of Deryneia is considered worthy of praise. On the one hand, because it gives the public the opportunity to enjoy great songs and favorite performers, and on the other hand, because it shows the brilliant course of a man with rich intellectual creation, while keeping his memory alive and honoring his wider contribution ".
