In the framework of the World Olympiad Day, which was established to be celebrated every year on April 6, the Kokkinohoria Panou Ioannou High School held an event on Friday, April 5, 2024, in the school's Multipurpose Hall, entitled: "Mother of gold-crowned games, Olympia!".

The event was welcomed by the director of the School, Mr. Giorgos Ioannidis and honored with her presence by the Dean of the National Academy of Cyprus, Dr. Clea Papaellina. In her own greeting, Mrs. Papaellina emphasized, among other things, the importance and values ​​of the Olympic Games. It is worth noting that the event was attended by the Inspector of Physical Education, Mrs. Theoti Pourou, officials of the political leadership and the Church, the President and members of the Association of Parents and Guardians of the School and representatives of other local bodies.

Students of the School, under the guidance of their teachers, presented a rich artistic tribute that included: touch of flame, representation of ancient sports, modern dances and singing.

The Herald's call for a truce under the sound of trumpets, the impressive dance of the priestesses, the invocation to God Apollo by the Prothea, who lit the "sacred torch", the participation of the athletes in the competitions, after hearing the Olympic Anthem from the choir, the bold presence of Kallipateira, the crowning of the winner with the hen by Hellanodikis, accompanied by the hymns of the Goddess of Victory and the united voices of the children through the verses of Yannis Ritsos, which sent a resounding message for peace, they created a climate of awe, pride and intense emotion in everyone.

Olympism, through education, aims to cultivate values ​​and ideals, which highlight the humanitarian and cultural value of sports and contribute to the moral education of the student-citizen of tomorrow.
