The government must staff the Famagusta District Land Registry and the Department of Urban Planning and Housing with the appropriate staff, so that they can fulfill their role, said AKEL General Secretary Andros Kyprianou.

In statements After a visit to the Provincial Cadastral Office and the Provincial Planning and Housing Office in Paralimni, Mr. Kyprianou said that the visit takes place every few months in an effort to record the problems and examine how to deal with them.

"During our visit to this Office we found that there are serious problems in its staffing with the appropriate staff, resulting in a long delay in the examination of many cases and causing chain effects on development in the province, we have requested the relevant correspondence in an effort to contribute so that these Departments are properly staffed to be able to fulfill their role ", he added.

According to Mr. Kyprianou, the free province of Famagusta is a province that is developing and the timely examination of all cases that exist before these Departments is important.

He stated that the Government needs to see these issues with a positive lens, to see how it staffs both the Town Planning and the Land Registry, so that they can fulfill their role.

The General Secretary of AKEL also referred to the General Hospital of Famagusta, which, as he said "We visit on a systematic basis and the problems are too many".

He expressed his confidence during today's visit, "We will hear the same complaints this year about the lack of staff and the lack of resources that are unfortunately not available from the government, in an effort to have the right staff and respond to increased needs".

He said that the free province of Famagusta is a tourist area and the Hospital also hosts tourists and special attention should be paid to staffing.
