The news posted by the Cultural Workshop of the Municipality of Paralimni "Para ti Limni" on the eve of April Fool's Day caused questions as well as excitement. Its members posted on their social media page an announcement that certainly caused a surprise with an admittedly strong and surprising party combination for the upcoming June 9 municipal elections.

Specifically, they announced the following nominations:
- Panagiotis Koumassis, Candidate President of Famagusta Provincial Organization
- Dimitris Tsierkezos (Pepe), Candidate Mayor of the Municipality of Paralimni - Deryneia
- Tasos Spyrou, Candidate Deputy Mayor of Paralimni
- Andri Venizelou, Candidate Municipal Councilor of Paralimni
- Nilia Foitiri, Candidate Municipal Councilor of Paralimni
- Soula Aristotelous, Candidate Municipal Councilor of Paralimni
On the plus side, however, were the... loud names, but also the fact that the ballot consisted of 50% women!
Their post was accompanied by the following message:
"The period we are going through and the one that follows is a period of significant changes, great challenges but also opportunities for the formation of a modern and functional Municipality, developmentally dynamic, economically viable that will be close to every citizen with transparency and accountability. A Municipality that will emphasize the improvement of everyday life and the quality of life of the residents through the correct planning and implementation of the necessary infrastructure and development projects, investing in critical sectors such as tourism, culture, sports, social policy. For the implementation of all of the above, systematic work, an elaborate plan and proposals are needed, but above all people with vision, perception, experience, knowledge and assertiveness, who love and believe in the potential of this place, who will be able to combine experience, renewal, ethos and efficiency, drawing strength from society itself, its citizens and their needs. Based on the above and aware of the responsibility we undertake, the respect we have for each and every one of you, the love for our country and guided by our values and principles, we have decided how to claim a position in the upcoming June elections.
The "PARA TI LIMNI" Cultural Workshop, as an Independent Combination, is asking for your vote and we promise that we will be worthy of your trust in us and will do our best."

And after many wondered if this was true or a lie, and while some already rushed to offer their support, "By the Lake" nevertheless revealed the truth, leaving many... disappointed with the "painful" revelation about the April Fool's lie .
Specifically, they wrote today on their social media account:
"On April Fool's Day, as we know, many people like to lie, laugh and tease others. With a folklore look, we notice that in each place they give a different interpretation for April Fool's Day. In Komotini they do it "to make their cocoons better", when they feed silkworms. In Eastern Thrace, for their trees to bear fruit. In Andros again, they tell lies on the 1st of March and not on April Fool's Day.
Be that as it may, the coming of spring is hidden behind all these customs, which hide the human disposition to celebrate the resurrection and re-creation of nature.
So this year we also decided to tell our own lie and move on... pre-election paths, downloading our own combination in the upcoming elections! Admittedly, our venture was a complete success, as I was very surprised, others laughed and certainly some were stressed! Anyway, we have no intention of running candidates in the elections, but we received so many messages of support, that in the next elections we might even think about it!!! In closing, we would like to wish good strength and good luck to all the genuine candidates!”
