PARALIMNI: Eight-day detention for the foreigner who harassed minors on the beach of Kapparis

The eight-day detention of a 39-year-old man from Egypt who was arrested by citizens on Sunday, July 26, 2020 for harassing underage girls was ordered today by the Famagusta district court.

According to the Police, the 39-year-old foreigner was arrested yesterday by the Police and was taken into custody for a case involving an indecent assault against two minors yesterday in Protaras.

According to the Police, around six yesterday afternoon, a 14-year-old minor was with her family on the beach of MMAD in Protaras.

At one point a 39-year-old man approached the 14-year-old and carried out an obscene attack against her while he did the same to a second minor.

The father of the 14-year-old, who happens to be a firefighter, realized the incident with the obscene attack against his daughter and the second minor and proceeded to arrest the man while notifying the Police.

Members of the Paralimni Police Station went to the area, picked up the 39-year-old foreigner from Egypt and placed him in custody.

The case is being investigated by the Office for Combating Sexual Abuse and Exploitation of Minors of the Police Headquarters.
