The Famagusta District Court today issued an eight-day detention order against a 37-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman to facilitate police investigations into an investigation into drug trafficking for the purpose of supplying another person with illicit drugs and dangerous acts.

According to the Police, shortly after six yesterday afternoon, after information, members of the Anti-Drug Service stopped a car driven by a 37-year-old man with a 43-year-old co-driver.

When the vehicle was stopped, the 37-year-old tried to escape by driving his car backwards, as a result of which he collided with a police official vehicle and came to a standstill.

The man tried to escape, however he was stopped by the members of YKAN and in a search carried out in a shoulder bag he was holding, he was located and confiscated, in two nylon packages, a quantity of cannabis weighing a total of 115 grams as well as three grams of cocaine.

YKAN members searched the house, shop and car of the two suspects. A folding bat was found in the car and five bottles of the 30ml banned cannabis substance and a pack of 6 anabolic pills were found in the store.

Court warrants were obtained against the two individuals, on the basis of which they were arrested and detained, while today they were brought before the Famagusta District Court, which issued a detention order against them for eight days.

The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Ladder of YKAN.
