Koukouma Utensils: "The General Hospital of Famagusta for the Kidney Patients is understaffed"

AKEL MP Skevi Koukouma is sounding the alarm about the understaffing of the Famagusta General Hospital.

In a statement today, the MP states that this is not the first time that it is stated that "the Government and the Ministry of Health are watching with apathy the shortcomings and gaps faced by the General Hospital of Famagusta."

For this reason, he notes, the dialysis patients of Famagusta Hospital were led to a public complaint about the condition and the way they are treated as patients and citizens of this place.

As it has been ascertained, it is mentioned in its announcement, the dialysis patients of the Famagusta Free Area expect to be served by a unit that is not sufficiently staffed, as it states, and can not effectively offer its services to the increased needs of patients in the area.

He also notes that the needs of the Hospital are covered by the visits of four different doctors from Larnaca Hospital, resulting in problems in terms of diagnosis and patient care. At the same time, due to the understaffing in several cases, the afternoon dialysis shifts are done without the supervision of a competent doctor.

AKEL Famagusta expresses, through the announcement, the support to the dialysis patients and calls on the Minister of Health to immediately address the issue and provide solutions to the chronic problems they face.
