The event "100 thousand poets for change" is organized in Ayia Napa, co-organized by the Municipality of Ayia Napa and the Pancyprian Cultural Association. The event will take place on Saturday, September 30, in the event hall of the Municipality of Ayia Napa at 7.30 pm and admission for the public is free.

A written statement from the Municipality of Ayia Napa states that "out of the 400 cities worldwide that will host the event" 100 thousand poets for change "in September, Ayia Napa is ranked, which is the only city in Cyprus that will host this important organization".

The event is co-organized by "the Municipality of Ayia Napa, the Pancyprian Cultural Association, whose President is Dr. George Kitromilidis and the representative of the organization in Cyprus Gioula Ioannou - Patsalidou, who stated that the organization "100 thousand poets for change" was created in 2011 and is an idea of ​​the American poet Michael Rothemberg ".

According to Ms. Ioannou-Patsalidou, "the purpose of the Organization is to bring to the surface the problems that concern the world community, including peace, racism, justice, gender inequality and poverty, and to create a movement of solidarity between their".

He added that "the choice of the Province of Famagusta and especially of Ayia Napa for the organization of the event was made to be held near occupied Famagusta in an effort to inform the problem of our beloved city, the world community and ask for its help in solving of her problem ".

According to the announcement, "the event will be attended by academics, including Turkish Cypriots, Cypriot poets, music groups and the dance group of our Municipality.

The program of the event includes a welcome from the Cultural Officer of the Municipality of Ayia Napa Maria Tofini-Tsantila, greetings from the President of the Pancyprian Cultural Association Dr. George Kitromilidis, the Mayor of Ayia Napa Giannis Karousos and introduction to the history of the event by Gioula Ioannou Patsalidou.

Then the message of the President of the Organization "100 thousand Poets for change" Michael Rothenberg will be read and will be followed by short speeches by Dr. George Kitromilidis on "Peace in Literature", Professor Niyazi Kizilyurek, on "Resentment and intolerance as obstacles to peace", Dr. Giannis I. Ioannou, professor at the University of Cyprus, who will develop the topic "Peace in European Literature" and Dr. Kyprianos Louis on "Education and Peace".

Then the poets Antis Kanakis, Olga Rouvim, Dimitris Kagkas and Hambis Achniotis will recite their poems and will follow an artistic program with Adamos Katsiantonis, Michalis Hatzimichael and the dance group of the Municipality of Ayia Napa.
