Their first trip to Ayia Napa took place in 1974 and as it turned out later it was not going to be the last. Despite the tragic events that took place in the year they made their first trip to Cyprus, this did not discourage them but instead was the beginning for Ayia Napa to become their permanent vacation spot.
So impressed by the beautiful scenery they saw, the peaceful and kind-hearted people they met on their journey, with several of whom have connected and become family friends, the Austrian tourists Erich and Gertrude Kisch made a visit to Ayia Napa beyond the top five .
For this reason, in a special ceremony that took place today, Friday 26 August, in a cordial and very friendly atmosphere, they were honored with a commemorative plaque and proclaimed Ambassadors of Tourism of Ayia Napa by the Mayor Mr. Giannis Karousos.
Mr. Karousos expressed the special joy he had the good fortune to honor a couple, who for decades has been friends with his own family and who he has known since childhood.
Continuing, the Mayor, after first thanking them warmly, explained the reasons for the specific honorary distinction on the part of the Municipality and awarded them the honorary plaque together with the emblem of the "Ambassador of Tourism of Ayia Napa".
