Following a decision of the Famagusta District Court, two persons from Romania, aged 23 and 2017, residents of Limassol, will remain in custody until August 31, 29, against whom a total of 75 cases involving burglaries and burglaries have been registered before the Court today.

According to the Police, today the two suspects, who were arrested on July 27 for a burglary case, were brought before the Famagusta District Court and a total of 75 burglary and theft cases were filed against them.

On July 27, 2017, a tourist who was staying in a tourist accommodation in the province of Famagusta reported to the Famagusta TAE that between 11 am on July 26 and 9 am on July 27, unknown persons broke into his apartment and stole various items of total value. € 18,900.

The investigation of the case revealed that part of the stolen property may be in a house in Limassol. With a court search warrant, members of the Police searched the house, where a large number of clothing and footwear, electronic devices and other valuables, believed to be stolen, were found and confiscated.

The total value of the property found amounts to 40 thousand euros, while part of it was recognized by the complaining tourist, as part of the property stolen from the apartment where he was staying.

During the police investigation, both occupants of the house were present, namely the 31-year-old and the 29-year-old. When asked by the Police about the origin of the property found in the house, the two suspects did not give satisfactory answers, as a result of which they were arrested for the self-inflicted crime of illegal possession of property.

In their voluntary statements, the two suspects allegedly admitted their involvement in another 74 similar cases of burglary and theft, committed in tourist accommodation and houses, between June and July 2017, in the areas of Ayia Napa and Protaras.

Today, the two suspects were brought before the District Court of Famagusta and a total of 75 cases were filed against them.

The court set August 23, 2017 as the date for the trial of the case and until then ordered that the two Romanians remain in custody in the Central Prison.

It is noted that two more people are wanted for the same cases, also from Romania.
