The prospects for tourism for the current year for the free region of Famagusta are positive, the Director of the Famagusta Tourism Development and Promotion Company Lakis Avraamidis told KYPE, expressing at the same time the belief that the growing trend in Cypriotism will continue this year. was observed last year.
In his statements, Mr. Avraamidis stated that “from the beginning of the year, the action plan for the new tourist season of the Province of Famagusta was implemented with the organization of events and our presence in various tourist exhibitions abroad. This year we started with our presence at the tourism fair in St. Gallen, Switzerland, where we found great interest from the travel agents there ".
He explained that "tour operators have shown great interest in Cyprus, while there is a noticeable increase in the arrivals of tourists from Switzerland every year, as they prefer the province of Famagusta and there are direct flights to Larnaca airport."
As Mr. Avraamidis mentioned, “tomorrow we are leaving for Dublin where a big tourist exhibition will take place. The Irish market is an old market from which about ten years ago about 70 thousand people visited our area "he said and noted that" in 2016 about 4 thousand tourists visited our area from Ireland ".
He explained that "the Irish are very good customers for the hotels and tourism of Cyprus and with the launch of new flights from this country, we expect that the number of visitors we will have this year will increase."
Answering a relevant question, Mr. Avraamidis said that after Ireland will follow the tourist fairs in Berlin, Moscow, Kiev and St. Petersburg "in which we will give a dynamic presence of the free region of Famagusta, with the hope to gain as much as as many tourists as possible from these countries ”.
Asked about the prospects of tourism in the summer of 2017 in the free area of Famagusta, he replied that "at the moment the prospects are positive and this is demonstrated by the orgasm of building, rebuilding, expanding and improving hotels and other units. We hope that the chartered flights from various countries to Cyprus will start earlier this year, thus giving a boost to the hotels and tourist units in our area to open earlier, thus extending the tourist season ".
He also expressed the belief that “the growing trend in the tourist flow that existed last year will continue this year at least for the free area of Famagusta, while other areas of Cyprus will also benefit from this trend.
