The human resources of the state machine are neither old nor young, with the average age of an employee being 43 years. The average salary is € 2.398 in the public sector with teachers taking over as it is estimated at € 3.267.

The cost of the monthly state salary (basic salary, general increases and index), in July amounted to € 103.748.793, excluding allowances and contributions of the State as an employer.

These and other interesting statistics are included in a study conducted by the General Accounting Office. The study is being conducted for the first time and includes data outlining the age and salary profile of government employees.

In particular, the map of the distribution of the state salary is unfolded as follows:

● € 41,5 million or 40% is distributed to 17.336 public service employees, corresponding to 44,3% of government employees

● € 22 million or 21% is distributed to 9.680 employees of the Security Forces, corresponding to 24,7% of these employees

39 € 38 million or 11.952% is distributed to 30,5 employees of the Educational Service, corresponding to XNUMX% of the employees of the Educational Service

● € 1 million or 1% is distributed to 191 employees of the Judicial Service, corresponding to 0,50% of the employees of the Service

The above data show that civil servants and employees of the Security Forces absorb a lower percentage of the cost of payroll compared to their ratio in number.

On the contrary, teachers and other executives of the Educational Service as well as judges absorb a higher percentage of the cost of the salary compared to their ratio in number of employees.

According to the General Accounting Office, the average salary in July was as follows: in the Public Service € 2.398, in the Judicial Service € 5.235, in the Security Forces € 2.287 and in the Educational Service € 3.267

Also interesting is the distribution of staff by salary scale and as it turns out, the majority, 8.183 employees, are placed in the A8 scale. The distribution in the other scales is as follows: 4.446 employees are paid in A5, 3.584 are in A10, 3.139 in A7, 2.801 in A2 and 2.203 are in A1.

The age profile of civil servants is mainly as follows:

● 8.774 or 22,41% are aged between 35-40 years

● 9.492 employees or 24,24% are aged 50 and over

. 5.040 employees or 12,87% are over 55 years old and entitled to a pension, in case of voluntary retirement. Out of the total of 39.159 employees, 8.233 have residual service (up to compulsory retirement) from 25-30 years. The average remaining service is 21 years.
