Dimitris Christofias addressed a message to the Turkish side on the issue of Famagusta.
The proposal for the return of Famagusta to its legal residents remains on the negotiating table, the President of the Republic underlined in a speech in Paralimni.
Welcoming the second clerical assembly of the Holy Metropolis of Constantia and Famagusta, he denounced Turkey's methods, and again called on the United Nations and the European Union to promote the implementation of his proposal.
Welcoming the participants in the assembly, Metropolitan Vassilios underlined the goal of such events, which is the connection of the flock of the semi-occupied province of Famagusta with the work of the relevant metropolis.
The meeting was addressed by the Professor of the Law School of the Democritus University of Thrace Konstantinos Pitsakis, who analyzed the new statutory map of the Church of Cyprus.
The Minister of Defense, Dimitris Iliadis, and the Bishop of Mesaoria, Gregory, were present. The Assembly, which is part of the celebrations of Agios Epiphanios, was attended by the clergy of the Holy Metropolis and the displaced clergy from the occupied province, representatives of the local authorities and a large number of lay people.
The whole event ended with a music program by the Mandolin of the Municipality of Paralimni, while a reception followed in the courtyard of the Metropolis.
