The Municipality of Sotira organizes from June 29 until July 1 the established 4th Traditional Festival of the Municipality of Sotira. The Festival of the Municipality of Sotiras with a rich program, aims to bring us to a direct acquaintance with our cultural heritage and the customs and traditions of our homeland.
On Monday, 29 June during the opening ceremony there will be an interesting lecture at the Municipal Theater of Sotiras at 8:00 p.m. on the subject of Cypriot traditional music and poetry. Speakers are the traditional musicians Michalis Hadjimichael on "Cypriot Voices" and Loukas Zimaras on "Traditional Music… Light in the tunnel". The lecture is presented by Vasiliki Hatziadamou.
On Tuesday, June 30 The central event will take place in the courtyard of the Holy Temple of the Transfiguration of the Savior, in a wonderful space with a unique setting which compose three unique in their kind and churches of significant historical value of the Savior. The Cyprus Night, which starts at 8:00 pm, will include a representation of the Consul by the Municipal Volunteer Group of the Municipality of Sotiras, while the artistic program will be undertaken by the traditional artist Michalis Terlikkas and the musical group "Musa". During the event, Cypriot tsiattista will be presented, while visitors will have the opportunity to try various traditional dishes and get to know the traditional professions, which will be presented at the special kiosks that will be set up for this purpose. The event will be presented by Vasiliki Hatziadamou. The Minister of Defense, Christoforos Fokaidis, under whose auspices the Festival is taking place, will address a greeting.
On Wednesday, July 1 at 8 pm at the Garden Theater of Sotiras City Hall, the Festival of Traditional Dances of the Famagusta District will take place, where Cypriot traditional dances by dance groups from the Famagusta province will be presented. Participating are the Sotiras Municipal Dance Club, the Ayia Napa Municipal Dance Club, the Sotiras Youth Center, the "Emergence" of Paralimni and the Sotiras Traditional Dance Workshop.
