Poll: 74,1% of Greeks do not "see" a solution to the Cyprus problem

Greek citizens are skeptical about the prospects for a successful outcome of the ongoing negotiations on the Cyprus issue in a poll conducted by Marc on behalf of the television station Alpha. According to the results, 74,1% of the respondents do not consider that a solution to the Cyprus problem is close and only 11,8% assess the opposite, while a 14,1% choose to state that they do not know and do not answer (DG / DA ).

52,9% believe that the proposed solution will not work, 31,3% that it will work while 15,8% choose DG / DA. Respondents' expectations from the Geneva Conference are low as 56,9% estimate that new obstacles will be created, 9,9% that the talks will be permanently suspended, 24,3% that positive steps will be taken and 2,1, 6,8% that the Conference will lead to a solution of the Cyprus problem while XNUMX% choose the DG / DA.

92,6% of the respondents set as a condition for the resolution of the Cyprus problem the withdrawal of the Turkish troops from Cyprus and only 3,6% accept that such a move is not a condition while 1,9% choose the DG / DA. 58% of the respondents are in favor of the solution under discussion, 17,1% are in favor of the continuation of the current regime, while a high percentage of 24,9% choose the DG / DA. From the course of the negotiations so far, 48,6% are dissatisfied, 26,8% are probably dissatisfied, 11% are rather satisfied and only 4,4% are satisfied, while 9,2 % is selected by DG / DA.

Asked to compare the solution plan under discussion with the Annan plan, 26% of respondents believe that the current plan is better, 18,6% that it is worse, 11,6% that it is about the same and the very large 43,8% choose DG / DA.

Regarding the role of Athens in the negotiations, 23,5% evaluate it as positive, 31,8% as rather positive, 16,2% as negative, 18,3% as rather negative while 10,2% selects the DG / DA.

Finally, as to whether they are sufficiently informed about the developments in the Cyprus issue, 5,9% of the respondents state that they are very informed, 33,2% quite informed, 44,9% slightly informed, 15,7% not at all informed and 0,3% choose DG / DA.
