The need to reduce the housing footprint, especially in big cities, leads scientists and researchers to highly futuristic proposals.

One of them is "CityHOME: 200 SQ FT", of the MIT Media Lab, which was founded in 1985 and managed up to 2.000 by Nicolas Negreponte. The idea is concentrated on how one can live in an area of just 200 square feet (ie 18,5 square meters), covering all his daily needs.

The "all in one" robotic furniture system also functions as a technological platform for the evolution of the perception we have today of the living space. The "house" is the size of a large closet and inside it hides a bed, a dining table - which can also serve as a work desk, a kitchenette and various storage spaces. Responds to gestures and voice commands and moves easily.

According to MIT Media Lab researchers, this is not just an ambitious project. They believe it is a commercially viable product and intend to bring it to market.
