The latest developments in the Cyprus issue, as well as the recent challenges of Turkey in the Aegean, were discussed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives Dimitris Syllouris and the Deputy Foreign Minister of Greece Terence Quick, at today's meeting in Parliament.

Mr. Quick, who is paying a visit to Cyprus at the invitation of the Presidency Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Expatriate Issues Foti Fotiou, was accompanied by the Ambassador of Greece to Nicosia Elias Fotopoulos, Mr. Fotiou and officials.

In statements after the meeting, the Greek Deputy Foreign Minister said that the second day of his official visit to Cyprus began with a meeting with Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulidis.

"As you know, there is a better and more than good, excellent cooperation of the two Foreign Ministers of the two countries, Mr. Kasoulidis and my own Minister, Nikos Kotzias, on issues related to the Cyprus issue and the handling. An issue that I discussed yesterday morning with the President of the Republic of Cyprus, Mr. Anastasiadis. Now I had the meeting with the Speaker of Parliament, Mr. Syllouris. We talked about many issues and the issues of the Cyprus problem. "I also informed him about issues concerning Greece, such as the issue of the negotiations for the closure of the evaluation, about the Greek-Turkish issue, since we have issues raised by the Turks, even questioning the conditions such as those in Lausanne," he added. .

Mr. Quick also said that they had a very interesting discussion regarding the experiences and conclusions of Mr. Syllouris from his recent tripartite visit to Israel at the level of Speakers of Parliaments, Greece, Cyprus and Israel. where issues related to dispersal were also raised.

"I am very pleased that my counterpart is the Commissioner, Fotis Fotiou, with whom there is a full understanding of how we should handle the two land communities of Cypriots and Greeks so that we can have better results in matters still and pressure from local governments and politicians on issues that concern us at national level. I will see the Archbishop in a little while, who will do me the honor of offering me a meal with my collaborators ", he added.

He also noted that he will visit the Imprisoned Monuments and the Tomb of Makedonitissa.

"I want to thank the Cypriot media for covering my trip here and I hope to say it again soon," he added.

Remarking that Greek-Turkish relations do not seem to be at the best level and that there is the refusal of the Supreme Court to hand over the eight soldiers and the challenges in Imia, Mr. Quick said that regarding the issue of the eight, Greece is a state governed by the rule of law, the judiciary is independent, the judiciary ruled "and you realize that in a rule of law no one could ever violate the decisions of justice".

"On the other hand, I must say that this TV show, which is set up every now and then in Imia, makes some people laugh and laugh at the expense of those who are planning these projects, involving even senior Turkish officials. But, at the same time, Ankara must understand that it can in no case play either with Greece at the level of questioning the conditions, or with Greece or with Europe, given that Greece is part of Europe and in fact , borders of Europe, where both Greek and international law apply to us Greeks. "So, it would be good for the President of Turkey not to turn his internal problems into aggressive policies against Greece, let alone reaching a point of the show in the area of Imia", he added.

The borders of Greece are defined, stressed Mr. Quick.

"Conditions are given, such as that of Lausanne, and I will refer to the statements made by the Chief of the General Staff of the National Defense, Mr. Apostolakis, who on Sunday clarified that Greece is ready for everything, is not afraid of anything, do not underestimate us. On the other hand, however, we must also send the message that we are dealing with this whole situation with absolute composure and prudence. We will not skimp on their challenges and we know well how to handle these situations and the mandate of the Minister of Defense, Mr. Panos Kammenos, on these issues is clear. In other words, on standby and beyond, the officers and leaders of the Armed Forces know very well what they will do, their job, if necessary ", he concluded.

In the meantime, according to an announcement by the House of Representatives, during the meeting, Messrs. Syllouris and Quick also discussed issues of dispersal, which relate to the portfolio of the Greek Deputy Minister and it was agreed to have an open channel of communication on specific issues where parliamentary cooperation is required.
