Two persons in custody by court decree for cases of embezzlement of money from SPA Ayia Napa.

The Famagusta District Court today issued an 8-day detention order against a 56-year-old man from Ayia Napa and a 5-day arrest warrant against a 65-year-old man from Liopetri to facilitate police investigations into conspiracy theories. goods with false representations, forgery, circulation of a forged document, provocation of execution of a document with false representations, false accounts for the purpose of embezzlement, theft by directors or officials of companies and offenses in violation of the Law on Cooperative Companies and the Law Revenue from Illegal Activities.

The offenses were committed between the years 2004 - 2012 in the provinces of Larnaca and Famagusta.

A testimony was secured against the 56-year-old former Secretary of the Ayia Napa SPE, during the examinations, following a relevant complaint given to the Police.

According to the complaint, between 2003 and 2012, the Cooperative Credit Company granted loans and excesses to current accounts, to natural and legal persons, without complying with the internal regulations of the Cooperative, but also in violation of the Law on Cooperative Companies. .

The above were ascertained after audits carried out in the specific Cooperative Credit Company by the Cooperative Companies Development Supervision Service and the Central Cooperative Bank, during the years 2011-2013.

The total amount of loans, including interest, amounts to € 9,823,399.

Testimony was secured against the 65-year-old during the examinations, following a relevant complaint given to the Police, for granting loans and overdrafts to current accounts, to natural and legal persons, by the specific Cooperative Credit Company, without observing the internal regulations of the Cooperative , but also in violation of the Law on Cooperative Companies.

Meanwhile, the Police secured an arrest warrant for a British businessman, who has left Cyprus for some time.

The case is being investigated by the Famagusta Police Department.
