The irregularities of dozens of community councils are summarized in a letter to the Minister of Interior, the Auditor General Odysseas Michailidis, urgently requesting a meeting to take radical measures. The letter sent on Wednesday to Socrates Hasikos and communicated to the Parliament, among other things, is essentially a note describing an endless party in the communities by the community councils to the detriment of the taxpayers, due to the problems identified in the preparation and of their financial statements.

Among other things, the payments of the community councils are recorded without any evidence to justify them, without the necessary approvals and signatures, with the mayor in many cases acting as the absolute ruler, while at the same time a large number of purchases of goods / services, as well as execution of projects. is carried out without following the legal and appropriate tender request procedure, without any consequences for those responsible.

In this regard, Mr. Michailidis reveals that, in cases where the Audit Office has identified in the past serious irregularities or actions that may constitute criminal offenses, it has sent letters with its observations to the Attorney General, without being aware of its results. nor whether responsibilities have been attributed to those responsible.
