Initiatives for the restoration and protection of the walls and other monuments of cultural heritage are undertaken by the so-called municipality of occupied Famagusta in collaboration with voluntary organizations.
According to an article in the Turkish newspaper "Halkin Sesi", entitled "Immediate intervention is necessary for the walls of Famagusta", a team consisting of scientists, academics, employees of the so-called department of antiquities and members of organizations has prepared a plan on restoration of the walls, but also of other monuments of occupied Famagusta with the aim of "passing them on to the next generation".
