The Municipal Theater Sotiras hosts tomorrow, Thursday, November 6, the Theatrical Performance of THOK "O RINOKEROS" by Eugenios Ionesco at 8:30 p.m.
Few words about the show:
The unexpected appearance of a rabid rhino among the crowds comes to shake the calm waters in a provincial town of France and marks the beginning of a paradoxical epidemic: people are transformed into rhinos! An irrational logic prevails and seduces the helpless citizens who, in order to assimilate to the social environment, shake off their human characteristics and release their animal instincts. This is how a social change takes place that consolidates the law of the jungle in the city. The only one who will oppose the rhino of "rhinoceritis" is Berange, an almost failed, peaceful and marginalized hero, who will eventually act as a model of altruism and resistance to homogenization.
Ionesco's work, in addition to surrealistic dialogues and comic elements, in fact scolds the indiscriminate and mass excommunication of countries, but also any mechanism of identification and totalitarianism. This political allegory remains very relevant today, as it is a cry of protest against the political systems that silence human freedom and ultimately fanatize and acquire the individual, turning him into a pachyderm-rhino.
