The appointment of an investigating officer was made by the Minister of Defense, Fotis Fotiou, in order to investigate in depth the most serious complaints made from within for illegal - illegal awarding of contracts of several million euros, concerning food supplies to the National Guard.
The complaints were made in a confidential letter to the management of the ministry by the responsible coordinator of food supply contracts of the Ministry of Defense, Marios Hatziandreou.
Under the microscope of the investigating officer will be found 20 contracts related to food supplies which were signed in the years 2011 and 2012.
"Tenders which should be considered inadmissible and not evaluated by the Evaluation Committee (s.s. of the Ministry of Defense) since there are no supporting documents and forms, which must be submitted with the tenders based on the documents of the respective tenders. "ended up being public contracts", complains in his document the responsible coordinator of food supply contracts of the Ministry of Defense. Complaining at the same time the following: "Forms and supporting documents seem to have been submitted afterwards, since they do not bear the seal of the Tender Opening Committee", while a contract for fresh products which were finally imported is under investigation…
Both the Auditor General of the Republic Chrystalla Giorkatzi and the General Accountant of the Republic Rea Georgiou are aware of the relevant complaints.
