Nicosia: In April, the announcement of the offers for the cameras of the Traffic Police is unexpectedly expected. A total of 110 devices will be acquired. According to estimates by the Electromechanical Service, by the end of October, if everything goes smoothly, the cameras will return to the streets after 10 years.
Of the 110 cameras, 90 will be stationary in urban areas, where traffic accidents occur, and the other 20 mobile. These will be erected on the highways and roads of the secondary road network. As the director of the Department of Electromechanical Services, Louis Timotheou, stated yesterday on Sigma's show "Mesimeri kai chi", the offers will be prepared by the end of February and will be sent for approval by the General Accounting Office of the State. The offers are expected to open in April and will last for two months. According to Mr. Timotheou, it is expected that in the middle of the summer the contracts with the winner of the offers will be signed, while they are expected to operate for the first time in October.
