Raisins that contain sulfur dioxide without it being indicated on their packaging and in a percentage that exceeds the maximum limit allowed by law, were identified by the Health Services of the Ministry of Health in the Cypriot market.

According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, after laboratory tests in the accredited laboratories of the General State Chemist, it has been found that the raisins, which bear the brand names "Karseras Supermarket" and "Karmi" contain sulfur dioxide, the presence of which does not indicated on their marking.

In addition, for the raisin under the brand name "Karseras Supermarket", the percentage of sulfur dioxide detected in it exceeds the maximum limit allowed by law.

It is noted that the Health Services of the Ministry of Health have already informed the companies that package and distribute these products in the Cypriot market, with instructions for their immediate withdrawal / withdrawal from the market.

However, because some of the above products may already be in the possession of consumers, they are invited to return to the places where they bought the raisin under the brand name "Karseras Supermarket" which was found to exceed the maximum permitted by law. of sulfur dioxide and do not consume it.

For the product under the trade name 'Karmi', in which, while the sulfur dioxide found does not exceed the maximum permissible limit, this is not indicated on the packaging. It is noted that this only affects consumers who have an allergic reaction to the consumption of sulfur dioxide, who are encouraged to avoid consuming it and return it to the places where they bought it.
