The hearing for the case of the quadruple murder of Ayia Napa on the night of July 23, 2016 on Katalimaton Street continued today before the Permanent Criminal Court of Larnaca - Famagusta.

During the attack on The Stone Garden restaurant, Theofanis Theofanous, otherwise Kalopsidiotis, the couple Elias and Skevis Hatziefthymiou and Yani Vogli, one of the perpetrators of the murder, were killed.

Today continued the main examination of one of the members of the investigative team for the quadruple murder, Sergeant of the TAE Operations Headquarters Konstantinos Xanthos, who, among other things, handled the lifer Charalambos Andreou, by taking statements and pointing out scenes.

When asked by the representative of the Prosecution Authority, Elli Papagapiou, the witness answered that the actions taken by the Police to locate the wanted Albanian executor Alex Burelli, were the issuance of an arrest warrant and then the issuance of a European and international arrest warrant. The help of the Greek and Albanian authorities was also requested and Alex Burelli is still wanted.

He also revealed that after his conviction, Marios Christodoulou, otherwise known as Beni, wanted to enter into an agreement with the Police to reveal things regarding the quadruple murder. In other words, he wanted to stay in prison for 5-6 years and then reveal to the Police what he knew and, according to the witness, "we told him that such a thing was not going to happen".

The witness was then questioned by Nikos Dimitriou, defense attorney of Panagiotis Pentavkas, and when asked if Marios Christodoulou was "willing" to speak involving other people, such as George Fenek, he admitted that "he was quoted by Marios Christos one of the perpetrators was George Fenek and another person. " He also noted that before the Police visited Marios Christodoulou in prison, he had "information that he took money from the second accused (Panagiotis Pentavkas) not to speak".

Because there was no question of arresting Rodotheos

Asked about the testimony of Isovitis Charalambos Andreou, according to which Marios Christodoulou told him to take "the Albanian to Andros to play him", Mr. Xanthou answered that Isovitis did not tell us Andros Rodotheou, he told us Andros and we did not have a clear testimony to issue an arrest warrant for him (Rodotheos) and for him to be interrogated ".

Asked whether the police had a testimony about the case, which he failed to record, the witness replied that the only testimony he had from Charalambos Andreou was what he said in order to "take the Albanian to Andros to play him." We asked him if he meant Andreas Rodotheou and Andreou told us "that's how I understood".

To repeated questions of Mr. Dimitriou for the issuance of an arrest warrant by Andreas Rodotheos by the Police, the witness replied that "the testimony we had was such that there was no question of issuing an arrest warrant for Rodotheos".

To the lawyer's remark that a head of the investigative team had said "do not think of opening falsehoods with the arrest of Andreas Rodotheos because there will be other consequences", the witness replied "I am sorry for your perception of the Police. "When we act according to the law, we are not afraid of anyone."

Asked whether there was expediency for the non-arrest of Andreas Rodotheos by the Police, the witness replied "such a thing did not happen".

The lawyer also told the witness that when Marios Christodoulou told the Police that he wanted to cooperate by revealing things and facts, then "Andreas Rodotheou, in a professional way, was killed by the same circles that did not want his arrest". The witness replied that when he asked Marios Christodoulou if he knew anything about the murder of Andreas Rodotheos, he told him that he did not know.

To another question, Mr. Xanthou answered that the investigative team did not apply for the issuance of an arrest warrant for George Fenek, because, as he explained, the testimony of Marios Christodoulos was considered false, according to which Fenek was one of the moral perpetrators of the 4fold murder. , after asking for compensation in order to reveal to the Police anything about the case.

During his interrogation, the witness also referred to the testimony of a girl who at the time of the murder drove in front of the restaurant, saw two executors, heard gunshots and that “she saw someone holding a chair to turn it into one of the perpetrators. "Later we learned that one of the children of the Hadjiefthymiou couple tried to turn a chair on the perpetrators", revealed Mr. Xanthou.

Regarding the search of the Toga - Toga club, owned by the second defendant, Panagiotis Pentavkas, the witness said that the Police were looking for "hoods, escape plans and anything related to the murder".

To other questions, the witness replied that he did not realize that there were surveillance cameras in the Toga - Toga parking lot and, addressing the lawyer, asked him if there were any cameras to give to the Police for examination.

The witness answered in the negative to a question whether the Police have a testimony to bring with them the two perpetrators, namely Alex Burelli and Yianni Vogli with Mario Christodoulou, Charalambos Andreou and Panagiotis Pentavkas.

He also stated that after his conviction, Marios Christodoulou told the Police that before the murder he had gone with Charalambos Andreou and Yianni Vogli to a forest area, near the place where the escape car was found burned, looking under polystyrene for a perfume box. in which there was money. I believe, the witness stated, "that Marios Christodoulou was guided".

Elsewhere in the interrogation, Mr. Xanthou stated that Charalambos Andreou had stated in his testimony that people of Panagiotis Pentavkas would go and set fire to the car used for the murder, noting that this was the only testimony he had in her possession. The police added that all those involved in the case left the area, knowing that the car would be burned by people from Pentavkas.

The witness also said that in January 2017, Charalambos Andreou, in an attempt to remember as much as he could about the case, told him that the message "OK1" and "OK2" (the place where Theofanis Theofanous would be) would sent a guard of Theophanes to Panagiotis Pentavkas who in turn would send it to Marios Christodoulou.

The hearing will continue on Monday 22 May.
