The Ministry of Defense announces that today at 14:31, the Larnaca KSED received an emergency emergency call concerning an injured swimmer in Cape Greco.

This is a tourist from Greece who attempted to dive into the sea from a rock in the area of "sea caves" in Cape Greco.

KSED activated the National Special Rescue Search Plan "NEARCHOS", immediately sending a speedboat of the Port and Maritime Police and a boat of the Ayia Napa Lifeguarding Unit and also placing an emergency helicopter of the Navy as well as a team of EMAK and the Famagusta Fire Department, in order to assist if required.

The wounded man was immobilized on a steep cliff, making rescue by sea impossible. For this purpose, a team of the Famagusta Fire Department was mobilized, which picked up the injured and handed him over to the ambulance to be transported to the General Hospital of Famagusta for further treatment.

The Greek is being treated out of danger.
