Greeting of the Secretary of the Council of Ministers at the event "I walk - I claim with the blind", in Paralimni

With joy and special emotion I am with you today to announce this year's course "I walk - I claim with the Blind", organized by the Pancyprian Organization of the Blind in collaboration with other organizations of the blind and under the auspices of the President of the Republic Mr. Nikos Anastasiadis .

I convey to you the greeting of the President of the Republic and his warm wishes for every success in this humanitarian event.

I want to express my deep sympathy for your noble work. I warmly congratulate all those who worked for the organization of today's march and for the multifaceted work in general, which you perform with religious devotion. Your overall contribution is deeply recognized and appreciated, both by the state and by society as an offer of love, solidarity and support to our suffering fellow human beings and citizens in need.

Today's course aims to take a short journey together and to give the message that each one individually and as a society in general, we are on the side of our fellow human beings who need and through the collection of money to strengthen the offer of the Pancyprian Organization Blind. At the same time, however, we mainly aim at realizing the debt of all of us for multifaceted support of the state and society in general in supporting the suffering citizens.

Voluntary contribution is neither a substitute for the role of government nor a transfer of government responsibilities to the volunteer. As a government and the President of the Republic personally, we have great concern for the people in need and we are fully aware of the responsibilities of the state, which it assumes fully, within its capabilities.

I emphasize the deep appreciation of the people of Cyprus and we are proud of the feelings of social solidarity and cohesion that our people have. We address these feelings of the people by asking everyone to contribute with a financial contribution to the fundraiser.

This course gives each of us the opportunity to offer, as much as anyone can, and thus become participants in this important manifestation of love.

From this step we all send a message of hope, solidarity and love. In addition to the financial support sought through today, a message of hope is sent that today is very important, because it gives courage for life and struggle to each of our suffering fellow human beings.

At this time we need mutual support, mutual support, mutual help to understand the difficulties. The humanitarian and altruistic feelings of the hikers participating in the process demonstrate in the best way the high sense of social sensitivity of our people, of which we are truly entitled to be proud.

Announcing the beginning of the course "Walk - I claim with the Blind", I warmly congratulate all the hikers for their participation in the process and wish every success in the goals of the whole event.
